Position Summary:
Kitch is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cabinetmaker Apprentice / Machine Operator to join our team in Edmonton. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about woodworking and manufacturing to learn and grow within the trade. The successful candidate will work under our experienced team’s guidance, contributing to producing high-quality cabinetry and millwork while developing essential skills in both traditional cabinetmaking and modern machine operation.
Machine Operation:
Set up, operate, and maintain various woodworking machinery, including but not limited to: CNC routers, edgebander, and Beam saw.
Load and unload materials from machines.
Monitor machine operations to ensure quality and efficiency.
Perform routine checks and basic troubleshooting on equipment.
Material Handling:
Safely handle, move, and store raw materials and finished products.
Assist with inventory management and material organization.
Quality Control:
Inspect own work and the work of others to ensure high standards of quality and accuracy are met.
Identify and report any defects or deviations from specifications.
Safety & Maintenance:
Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Perform general shop duties as required.
Collaboration:
Work effectively as part of a team, communicating clearly with supervisors and colleagues.
Be open to learning new techniques and adapting to various tasks.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
Strong mechanical aptitude and a keen interest in woodworking and manufacturing processes.
Basic understanding of measurements and ability to use measuring tools accurately.
Ability to read and interpret basic drawings or willingness to learn.
Physically capable of lifting heavy materials, standing for extended periods, and performing repetitive tasks.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
Reliable, punctual, and with a strong work ethic.
Willingness to learn, take instruction, and commit to an apprenticeship program.
Previous experience in a manufacturing or workshop environment is an asset, but not required.
Experience with CNC machinery or other industrial woodworking equipment is a significant asset.
