As a Sander at AWFI, you will be responsible for creating high-quality custom cabinetry, furniture, and woodwork for residential and commercial projects. You will work with various types of wood, veneers, laminates, and other materials.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Key Responsibilities

·         Sand wood components, panels, and assemblies using hand tools and power sanders to achieve smooth, defect-free surfaces

·         Working with solid woods, veneers, plastic laminates, plywood, MDF, HDF, and particle board

·         Prepare surfaces for staining, painting, or finishing by removing imperfections such as glue, scratches, dents, and machine marks

·         Inspect materials before and after sanding to ensure compliance with quality standards and project specifications

·         Follow job drawings, finish schedules, and instructions from supervisors

·         Assist finishers with staging, moving, and organizing parts throughout the finishing process

·         Maintain clean and organized workstations, ensuring proper handling and storage of materials

·         Identify defects or inconsistencies and report issues to the Finishing Supervisor

·         Safely operate sanding equipment and tools in accordance with company safety policies and procedures

·         Support production timelines by working efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

·         Assist with general finishing department duties as required

 

Qualifications & Requirements

·         Previous experience in woodworking, sanding, or manufacturing environment is an asset

·         Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

·         Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively

·         Ability to follow instructions, drawings, and specifications

·         Physically capable of standing for extended periods and handling materials

·         Ability to work independently and as part of a team

·         Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a fast-paced production setting

·         Strong understanding of millwork materials and finish techniques.

 

Working Conditions:

·         Full-time, with occasional overtime or weekend work, depending on project deadlines

·         Physical work may involve lifting 10 – 50lbs

·         Standing for long periods and using tools and machinery

·         Exposure to wood dust

Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 7:30am to 5:00pm, Friday 7:30am to 3:00pm

Salary range = $ 19.00 – $ 21.00
