3 years experience in custom woodwork design with a strong background in commercial / residential Cabinetry and Millwork
Post-secondary education in Architectural Technology or similar program, equivalent certification, or practical industry experience.
3 years experience designing custom millwork using AutoCAD
CAM (CNC Programming) experience a bonus.
Journeyman/women Cabinetmaker accreditation a bonus
Essential Requirements:
Be proficient in the operating and use of software including AutoCAD 2D/3D, Word processing, and Excel. Experience with Cabinet Vision and Mastercam a bonus.
Solid command of the English language; spoken, reading, and writing.
Must have previous experience in detail design, and construction.
Must be comfortable with custom cabinet making.
Be organized, efficient, accurate, and thorough in performing the duties and responsibilities of this position.
Be proficient in the setup, operation, maintenance, and use of CNC Machines
Must have high manual dexterity, attention to detail
Must have a good working knowledge of different solid wood types, plastic laminates, plywood, particleboard, veneering, and veneered particleboard/MDF.
Must be able to:
Work independently, in a team environment, and participate in training apprentices
Work in a fast-paced environment
Stand for extended periods of time
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Work under pressure with tight deadlines
Take constructive criticism positively and without ego
Lift up to 23kg (50lbs)
Job Description:
Creating shop drawings from the following:
Hand designed sketches
Architectural drawings
Designer drawings
Site visits as required
Communicate and coordinate with designers, contractors, customers etc.. regarding drawings, samples, installation, etc..
Formulate design ideas for building units incorporating our shop standards and construction methods.
Determine project material needs, and place material orders
Producing cutting lists from shop drawings
Under direct supervision of Senior Project Manager
Work closely with: management team, Estimator, Foreman/woman, Installer, Finisher, and shop personnel
Be willing and able to perform any other jobs necessary to meet production deadlines
Other details:
Position is full-time, permanent
Hours of work are Monday-Friday 37.5 hours up to 44 hours / week
Salary to be determined by experience and will increase if merited with job performance.
Must be willing to relocate to Canmore, or reliably commute.
Steel-toed safety boots required
Valid Driver’s licence
